Kudzu
Kudzu
I am looking for a new home for my dog Kudzu. She is a very loving and sweet dog. I adopted her from the pound and have absolutely fallen in love with her. Unfortunately, I can not keep her after I graduate from college. I will be moving and I am unable to take her with me.

Kudzu is probably about 2 years old and is thought to be a pointer mix, but no one really knows. She is about 35 pounds. She is crate trained and house broken, I keep her in her crate when I leave the house. She has been spayed, is up to date on all her shots, has a microchip, and is heartworm negative.

KudzuShe was a little traumatized from her experience being lost and then being at the pound, so she has needed some extra attention. We have been working on getting over our fears and learning that a lot of things that seem scary at first really aren’t.  I am looking for a home that will have the time to work with her and help her enjoy life and not be so afraid. She is great with other dogs and cats; she is best friends with my current roommate’s cat. She loves walks and runs in the woods.

She would really benefit from living in a home with other dogs and in a quite neighborhood. She learns really quickly and will watch what other dogs do and will follow their lead. I currently live in a college apartment and there is just too much noise in the hall for her to feel completely comfortable all the time. When I take her to my parent’s house, which is in a quite neighborhood, she feels a lot more comfortable and she will walk around the yard without a leash pretty well.

I am asking for $60 for her, her crate, a leash, and any food I have, this is the cost of the crate. If interested please contact me, only serious inquiries, at emandm7@yahoo.com or 770-359-8776.

Spot
Spot
My name is Spot and I don't have a home to call my own.  For 12 years, I've been "daddy's boy."  He pampered me, cuddled me, and heated my food up to just the right temperature.  He recently died from a massive stroke at the age of 47.  I had no place to go.  Dad's children are grown and gone.  Mom and dad were divorced a long time ago.  My grandmother lives next door and offered to provide me food and water on her front step.  I really wanted to come inside out of the cold and rain, but my grandmother is afraid of cats.  Out of desperation, I went inside through her dog door.  She wasn't very happy about this.  She was concerned that she might trip and fall as I rubbed up against her legs seeking love and attention.  Instead she would push me away with her foot.  Now my grandmother is in the hospital having major surgery.  She won't be able to take care of me anymore.  My aunt said I could stay with her until I find a new home.  She got my veterinary care updated (shots, Felk/FIV test - neg, senior bloodworkup - normal.)  Now I live in a room in her basement.  I get great food and have big windows to look out, but I'm VERY lonely.  She can't keep me because she has a rescued Hurricane Katrina dog that kills cats.

I'm a very affectionate and sweet, little man.  PLEASE HELP ME.  If you are interested in adopting me, call my Aunt Wendy at C:(706)621-1242 or H:(706)354-4422 or email her at stewardess1313@hotmail.com   You can also help by spreading the word.  Thank you,  Spot

p,s  My Aunt Wendy said she could arrange for transport if my new home ends up being in a different state than Georgia.

TankTank
From Lady trying to help:
Animal Type: Dog
Pet Name: Tank
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
Gender: Male
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Altered: Yes

Tank was rescued from Athens-Clarke County Animal Control on Valentine's day. He is up do date with all vaccinations and he has been recently neutered. We think Tank is around a year old, and at 40 pounds, he's the perfect size. He is a beautiful blue with white markings, and loves to be around people. We are working on crate training with Tank, and he is learning quickly. Although he still acts/plays like a puppy (he can be a bit mouthy), he has come very far in just a few weeks.

We don't know much about Tank's previous living situation, but we do know that he came to Animal Control with 2 other dogs, one of which had to be put down due to aggression issues. We rescued Tank and the other pitbull with the intention of finding at least one of them a new home. Apparently, the dog that had to be euthanized was bullying both Tank and the other dog, who we've named Saint, and both dogs were covered in bite marks when we got them.

It seems that Tank and Saint do not get along - Tank instigates things with Saint by jumping on him/biting at him, and Saint doesn't tolerate it. However, I have been working with Tank around our 1 year old, very submissive lab, Hope, and he is definitely making progress. With good leadership, I believe Tank can learn to get along with another dog. But at this point, adopting Tank into a home with other dogs will have to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

If you're interested in meeting Tank, please email me (labrat2586@gmail.com) anytime for an adoption application. His adoption fee is $100 and a home visit and/or or veterinary reference is required.

UberUber
From Lady trying to help:
This sweet little dog in the attached photos is one that I rescued on Monday, February 27. He had been staying around the Georgia Square Condominiums since the previous Thursday. He was at Georgia Square Condominiums when I first saw him and fed him what appeared to be his first meal in some time. His little ribs were showing.

Chester (my 9 year old Pyrenees) and I took him to the vet for his first round of shots and worming medicine. They estimated his age at 9-12 months and think he has some boxer and possibly some basenji. I've posted ads both on-line and in the paper but no one has responded to claim him. He is very smart, sits, walks on a leash and seems to be housebroken. He rides in a car well and enjoys playing other with dogs.

He is wearing Chester out so I can only foster him for a short time. Please help me find him a good and loving home. I will deliver him within a 100 mile radius. Email barbara@woodhillretreat.org for information.

KofiKofi
From owner:
Kofi is a beautiful 8-year-old tabby cat that is happy playing indoors and outdoors. We found him and took him in immediately when he was an orphan at about three weeks old. He is in excellent health and has a great personality. Kofi is bashful on first meeting, yet he is soon friendly and purring with affection. His current owners are moving from Five Points to an apartment in town. Kofi has been well cared for with yearly vet visits, current shots and no illness ever. He would be a wonderful addition to a loving home. Please contact: Michael Simon 706-354-1937

No NameFound Dog
From person who found him:
Over a week ago this sweet male lab/shepherd followed me and my dog home. I have taken the stray to the vet and he is heart-worm negative and I am currently treating him for a severe allergic reaction to fleas (his skin test was negative for mange). He is about ten years old, neutered, and has been sweet to everyone who has met him. He is very skinny at 65 lbs and mainly likes to go on walks, chew his bone, play fetch with squeaky toys, and sleep. He is not been food aggressive and will share his bone. The groomers said he was very friendly and did not need to be muzzled during his bath. I got him all his vaccinations, including boardatella, de-wormed, and put him on confortis for fleas etc.  No one has responded to the found ad I put in the news paper.

This dog is so sweet, knows all obedience commands, easy to walk on a leash, and housebroken.   He passed temperament testing at Athens Area Humane Society and is just a nice old dog looking for a place to retire. He is friendly to everyone he has met, likes other dogs, doesn't mind cats and is so incredibly well trained  - I wish I had better trained my own puppy!  He seems to be special and I would like to find him a home where he can just hangout and play. Please let me know how I can get him adopted and find a forever home.

He is crate trained and a crate will be provided to the family who adopts him.  Please call 706-769-2596 if you are interested.

PuppiesPups
From Lady trying to help:
I came across 3 puppies on a home visit the other day. Apparently the puppies were dropped off in front of her house on the main road. She has been feeding them and allowing them to stay on her land, and I have given her information on SpayGeorgia so that she can hopefully get them spayed/neutered, but she cannot keep them. Currently, they are living outside, still running up and down the road. They are in desperate need of a foster home/forever home.

They are incredibly sweet, playful, very young puppies. There are 2 black females and 1 multi-colored male with 1 blue eye and 1 brown eye. The 2 black females look exactly the same. If anyone can help by fostering or adopting 1 or more of them, please contact me and I can get in touch with the family, as I cannot post their information on a public site. The family said they might be able to keep 1 of them, but absolutely cannot afford to keep all 3. My phone number is 203-525-9194 and e-mail is sarah.saint@gmail.com. I have attached pictures of them.

Thank you very much for your help!!
Sarah Hamilton

Apple & KatieRaimie
From Foster Owner:
I am looking to move in order to find work or attend seminary in the upcoming months and am forced to find a loving home for my two dogs.

Apple is as gentle, loyal, and affectionate as four-legged friends get. She is on and off-leash trained to many commands. She is polite and sits patiently until she is told to eat her dinner. Above all she loves to jog, run, hike, and play with her best friend (also up for adoption) Katie.

Apple is a healthy dog. She is healthy as a horse. She is up to date on all her vaccines and is medical issue free. She will allow you to trim her toenails, although she flinches sometimes just at the right moment, clean her teeth by hand, and take food away from her.

RaimieApple is from a Rottie rescue in Southern Georgia. She is approximately five years old. She would do well with a loving family or a person that is active outdoors as she does require daily exercise. She is fully house trained and is an indoor dog. She is also cat friendly and loves other dogs of all sizes.

Katie is kind, sweet, on and off-leash trained to many commands. She is polite and sits patiently until she is told to eat her dinner. Above all she loves to jog, run, hike, and play with her best friend (also up for adoption) Apple.

Moose

From Foster Family: Moose
Moose appears to be a american bull mix; approximately 2 years old. He arrived at our home in Sept of 2010.   He was covered in mange, and someone had shaved him, apparently trying to get rid of the mange.  We got him to the vet and began treatment for the mange, and all his fur has grown back in nicely.  He's had all his vaccinations and we've had him neutered.

Moose is very playful and happy.  He loves chasing a ball or rope, and is happy to climb in a lap and be calm and peaceful.  He's had absolutely no aggression towards our family at all.  He loves to be petted and loved, a very sweet dog.  Moose, however, does not like to share!  His possessiveness of toys, food, and even stray critters in the yard, has caused fights with our other dogs.  We've tried everything to have a harmonious existence, but it's clear that Moose needs to be an only pet for someone.  Again, he has never shown any aggressive behavior towards people at all, but is unable to be trusted with other pets.  He does fairly well on a leash, and has had no problems with kids.

Anyone interested call Alan at 706-255-4972.

LeoLeo
From Mom:
Leo is a fun-loving, happy, playful and loving 6 month old puppy who needs a new home. He was rescued from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter when he was 6 weeks old. Leo is, as far as some vets can guess, a Border Collie - Australian Shepherd mix and right now weighs about 30 pounds. Leo's personality is great: he loves meeting new people and dogs, loves to play but is also very smart and obedient. He picks up on new training very quickly and has been a great with all people and dogs he's ever met. Leo is neutered, up to date on all vaccines as well as heartworm/flea/tick medicine. This guy loves to play and run so he would do great with an owner who has some land or a park nearby. He would also be really happy living with a family and/or other dog companions. Most importantly Leo needs a devoted, loving, responsible owner(s) who can love him as much as he would them.

TrixieTrixie
From Foster Mom:
My daughter rescued this little dog and now we really need to find her a home.  I took her to the vet and got her rabies shot, checked out for heart worms, and worms (all negative), bought her a collar, gave her a bath, and frontline.  She is so sweet and really needs a lot of love.  We have named her Trixie but Mocha does not appreciate the divided attention that she is receiving.  The vet said she looks like a chihuahua mix but then listed on her paperwork as rat terrier.  He also estimated that she is 12 1/2 years old.  Please let me know if you have room for her in your family or if you know someone that does.

Contact Amy Moore if interested. 706-340-2235 or amy@hopehaven.net.

KittensKitten
From Owner:
I have two kittens available for adoption and here is their story and pictures:  Sometime around the beginning of March, I was adopted by a pregnant cat.   She literally walked in my back door and didn't give a hoot that my 60 pound pit/lab mixed dog was already there.  She made herself quite at home and is the friendliest cat I have ever met.  Never a bite or a scratch and she loves to be petted.  On March 12 she delivered five kittens as I was sitting beside her on the couch.  I have found homes for two of the kittens and I am keeping the mom and one of the kittens, and that leaves two kittens available for adoption.  They are both female and have been Kitten'humanized' since birth.  I would love to keep them together because they enjoy playing together and also enjoy grooming each other frequently.  This is not mandatory, but they would appreciate it.  They are about eight weeks old and ready to find themselves a loving forever home.  My contact information is:  Jan Jolly 404)626-1712 or quilterjan@bellsouth.net.  Their pictures are below.  Thanks so much for reading this and helping me to find homes for these beautiful and loving felines.

Kenny
From Foster Mom: Kenny
Kenny is a playful young dog, found as a stray, who bonds quickly and tightly to people.  He loves to ride in a car, and go for walks or runs.  The long walk on the top of the Hartwell Dam is a favorite. He quickly learned to sit on command for treats or a pat on the head, and completed U.S. Canine’s two week boarding-training program on March 3, 2011. He has lots of energy, and loves to play. However, he is not polite to cats.

Kenny is a relatively small boxer mix, about a year old, and weighs about 35 pounds. He is crate-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations and parasite preventives. Kenny is ready to find a forever home where he can live inside, play outside, and give and receive lots of love. To meet Kenny, please call Margaret Kiemele at 706-376-6404 or 404-983-6094. Kenny and Margaret live in Hartwell, Georgia, and Margaret will be glad to bring Kenny to meet you.

NoodleNoodle
From Owner:
This is Noodle and she needs a good home!  She is approximately 1 to 1 ½ years old and is spayed and current on her shots.  She is HIV and Feline Leukemia negative.  She is called Noodle because when you pick her up, she drapes herself over your arm like a wet noodle!  She is very affectionate and likes to rub her face against your nose!    Please call Kathy at 706-255-1144, or e-mail at kdhardman@yahoo.com if interested.  Thanks!

MacyMacy
From Foster Mom:
Hi there! My name is Miss Macy May. I am a people-loving pit mix just looking for a forever home. My foster mom found me in her driveway one night after a scary thunderstorm and I’ve been hanging out with her ever since. Although I wasn’t looking my best, she saw immediately how sweet I am. We’ve taken a few trips to the vet and I’m now up to date on my vaccinations, on flea/tick medication, and have been spayed. I’m heartworm positive, but, for now, I am taking heartguard for to prevent any further damage.

I haven’t been observed around kids, so I may need to be with grown-ups. Also, it’s tough to tell how I’ll do around other doggies. I probably need to be an only dog or to go to a home that can socialize me with other dogs slowly. As far as manners, I’m energetic but eager to please! I’m already potty-trained and know my basic commands. I’m not trying to brag, but I’m also pretty good on a leash (unless there’s a dog or deer to distract me). If you’re looking for a sweet girl to spoil you, contact my foster mom, Jaclyn at 919-599-7088 or email her at jaclyn@uga.edu. Thanks!

RubyRuby
From Foster Mom: RUBY is an amazing dog. She is around 55 lbs and a little over a year old.  She was taken from her owners when she was only a puppy because the owners were dog fighting. Ruby was too young to have fought but b/c she was involved in a cruelty case, she has lived her whole life in animal control She is now just a year old and finally out of animal control and ready for a new life with a loving forever family.

RUBY loves everybody she meets. Shes an incredibly loyal dog and will just stare right in your eyes and melt your heart. She loves to cuddle  Ruby has a lot of energy and would do great with kids or in an active household where she can play outside and go for walks.
Ruby does not do well with smaller dogs, female dogs, or cats.  She do best as an only dog or with a larger male dog.

Ruby has never been trained and has a lot of energy.  We are very lucky to have someone who is willing to sponsor Ruby for two whole weeks of intense in house training with a very Rubyskilled local dog trainer, Byron Haygood of B. Good Dog Behavior Modification.  She will go into training as soon as she finds a foster home or permanent home.

Ruby is up-to-date with routine shots and spayed/neutered.  Please consider making Ruby, the smiling dog, a part of your family.  Contact me Lauren 404-372-3408 or email at LMcKnight1@gmail.com

Featured Adoptable Meet Margie. Margie was scheduled to be adopted from Gwinnett Animal Control. When the family showed up and saw that she had sores on her skin they decided they didn't want her. Poor Margie's skin looks horrible. She suffered from the non-contagious mange. Though she's feeling much better her skin has a long way to go to look normal. Many people are passing her over because of this. Learn more about her story on the "Dogs for Adoption" page.
